Our grab is a 7.5-tonne lorry with a roughly 3-tonne waste capacity per load. That suits domestic and small commercial jobs: a single garden clearance, a patio rip-up, a smaller groundworks job. It's not the right kit for big-volume construction sites where you'd want an 8-wheeler grab carrying twice the load, and we'll be straight with you about that on the call. If the job is bigger than our grab handles, we'll point you towards a contractor whose kit matches.
The waste types we take are garden waste, logs, soil, rubble, and mixed loads of those. What we don't take is asbestos, plastic, food waste, or anything classified as hazardous. Those need specialist disposal routes that aren't what our grab lorry is set up for. If you're not sure what category your waste falls into, send us a photo via WhatsApp and we'll tell you straight.
Grab hire makes sense when the waste is too heavy or too loose for skips, when access for a skip is awkward, or when the job already has a digger or labour on site loading the pile. The grab arrives, picks up the waste with its on-board arm, loads itself, and drives away. No bagging, no manual loading, no wait for someone to come and tip a skip after it fills.
Typical jobs we run the grab on are garden clearances where the waste pile is bigger than a couple of skips would handle, patio and driveway rip-ups where the rubble and hardcore add up quickly, soil removal from groundworks, and tree work waste from sister business Pearson Tree Services where logs and brash combine into a serious volume. We use the grab on our own jobs across these services and we book it for separate grab hire work too.
Grab hire pricing isn't a fixed per-load number because the cost depends on the type of waste, the volume, the access at the loading site, and where the lorry is travelling from. Soil and rubble are priced differently from green waste because the disposal routes and tipping fees are different. A site that's straight off a main road costs less to reach than one with awkward access or a long approach.
What we do is quote per job once we know the basics: the waste type, the rough volume, and the address. Send the details via WhatsApp or call and we'll give you a price before we book anything in. No fixed prices online because they'd be inaccurate, but no surprises in the quote either.
Grab Hire Across West London
We run grab hire across Uxbridge, West London, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, and Hertfordshire, including Ealing, Chiswick, Hammersmith, Holland Park, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, and the surrounding areas.
Our 7.5-tonne grab takes around 3 tonnes of waste in a single load. To put that in concrete numbers: roughly the contents of two large skips' worth of soil, or about three to four cubic metres of mixed garden waste once it's compacted into the lorry. For most domestic clearance jobs that's a single-load job. For bigger clearances or full groundworks spoil it can be two or three loads.
We'll tell you upfront how many loads the job is likely to need based on the waste pile we're seeing. If we get on site and the volume is bigger than the photos suggested, we'll talk to you about it before we run extra loads, not after. The price you sign off is the price you pay.
Booking grab hire is straightforward. We need to know the address, what's being lifted, and any access constraints (low bridges, narrow lanes, restricted parking). The grab needs about a lorry-and-a-half of road space to set up alongside the loading point, so very narrow streets or permit-only parking areas need a bit more planning.
For grab hire that's part of a wider job we're already doing, the disposal is built into the main quote. See our garden clearance and groundworks pages for how that works. For standalone grab hire bookings, the quote covers the lorry, the operator, and the disposal at the appropriate facility.
Send us the details via WhatsApp: a photo of the waste, the address, and rough volume if you know it. We'll come back with a price, confirm what we can take, and book a date that works around your timeline.
